Our founding team blends expertise in investigative services, emergency response, Indigenous consultation, and mental health counselling to offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach to community care. Don, a retired RCMP Detective, brings decades of experience in major crime investigations and MMIP advocacy. Ken, a specialist in emergency services and Indigenous engagement, integrates field operations with cultural sensitivity. Karlana, a Clinical Director and therapist, provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health support across all ages. Together, they form a multidisciplinary alliance dedicated to healing, justice, and empowerment.

Meet Our Founders

At the intersection of healing, protection, and community care stands a team unlike any other. Our founders bring together decades of experience in investigative services, search and rescue operations, human services, and mental health counselling, creating a multidisciplinary approach to supporting individuals, families, and communities through life’s most complex challenges.

Don – Director of Investigative Services

Don is a retired RCMP Detective whose career spanned high-level investigations across Canada and the U.S. With specialized training in undercover operations, major crime techniques, and VIP security, Don has led complex investigations and coordinated multi-agency efforts with precision and integrity.

His expertise includes:

  • Intelligence gathering and analysis

  • Search and rescue/recovery operations

  • Crisis intervention and forensic documentation

  • Leadership in Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) investigations

Don is known for his meticulous case preparation, courtroom expertise, and unwavering commitment to justice. He continues to serve as a mentor, consultant, and community leader—bringing unmatched insight and dedication to every mission.

Ken – Director Emergency Services & Indigenous Consultation Lead

Ken brings over a decade of experience in emergency services, GIS intelligence, and Indigenous community consultation. As a Private Investigator and Search & Rescue specialist with MMIP Family Matters, Ken plays a vital role in recovery operations and investigative support.

His background includes:

  • Emergency Services & GIS Specialist at OKAKI Health Intelligence

  • Consultation Lead for Kehewin Cree Nation

  • Field operations in Missing and Murdered Indigenous People investigations

Ken’s work is grounded in cultural sensitivity, community engagement, and a deep respect for the families and individuals he serves. His hybrid role bridges technology, field expertise, and trauma-informed care—making him an essential part of our multidisciplinary team.

Karlana – Clinical Director & Counselling Therapist

Karlana is a passionate advocate for whole-person wellness. Her therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves a space to express themselves, build resilience, and pursue personal growth. She integrates a biopsychosocial approach with evidence-based modalities, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Therapy

Karlana specializes in family mediation, parenting plans, separation/divorce support, and trauma-informed care. She works with children (6+), youth, adults, couples, and seniors—offering services that are tailored, compassionate, and deeply informed.

Her credentials include:

  • Doctor of Psychology Candidate

  • Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC)

  • Counselling Therapist & Child and Youth Care Counsellor (ACTA)

  • Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCPA)

  • Qualified Mediator (Q.MED)

Currently completing her Doctorate in Psychology Candidate (PsyD c), Karlana also serves on multiple boards advocating for mental health services across Alberta and internationally.

Together, Don, Ken, and Karlana form a powerful alliance, uniting therapeutic depth, investigative precision, and community-rooted care.
